Dental surgery

Complicated extractions, extraction of impacted teeth (wisdom teeth, canines), extractions for orthodontic reasons, removal of broken root fragments.

Placement of dental implants, bone augmentation (bone grafting), sinus lift (sinus elevation), alveolar ridge modification prior to denture fabrication (alveoloplasty).

Removal of cysts, benign tumors and other pathological lesions in both soft and hard tissues, including biopsy for histological examination.

Apicectomy (root tip resection) for teeth where conventional endodontic treatment has failed and periapical pathology persists (cyst/abscess).

Surgical procedures on the gums and tooth supporting apparatus, such as gingivectomy, root coverage procedures, flap surgery, clinical crown lengthening.

Cardiovascular:

• Unstable angina pectoris, recent myocardial infarction (<3-6 months), uncontrolled hypertension, severe heart failure.
• Endocrine: Decompensated diabetes mellitus (HbA1c > 8-9 %) – risk of impaired healing and infection.
• Hematological: Severe bleeding disorders (hemophilia), uncontrolled anticoagulation therapy (INR > 3.5).

• Bisphosphonate/antiresorptive therapy (especially i.v.): High risk of medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ) after surgical procedures.
• Active oncologic treatment: Chemotherapy and radiotherapy in the head and neck region – risk of osteoradionekróza and healing failure.
• Immunosuppressive therapy: Increased risk of postoperative infections.

Acute purulent inflammation (abscess, phlegmon) at the site of planned surgery – it is necessary to manage the acute phase of infection first (e.g., with antibiotics, incision and drainage).

Planned surgical procedures are not recommended in the first trimester. In the second and third trimesters, only emergency treatment should be performed after consultation with a gynecologist.

Patients who are unable to undergo the procedure under local anesthesia and cooperate may require treatment under sedation or general anesthesia in a specialized facility.
